About Alberto Morillas
Alberto Morillas is a Spanish perfumer, born in Seville in 1950 and raised in Geneva from about the age of ten. He studied for two years at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva and is largely self-taught in perfumery. He joined Firmenich, now dsm-firmenich, in 1970. His Must de Cartier (1975) established his reputation. He won the Prix François Coty in 2003 and runs the Mizensir house, which he began with his wife Claudine in 1997.
Morillas takes much of his inspiration from the Mediterranean and from gardens. His work often turns on citrus, sea notes, musks and flowers such as jasmine, neroli, tuberose and rose. His best-known creations include Acqua di Giò for Giorgio Armani (1996) and Flower by Kenzo (2000). He also composed Daisy for Marc Jacobs (2007), Good Girl Gone Bad for Kilian (2012) and Gucci Bloom Acqua di Fiori (2018).
