About Alexandra Carlin
Alexandra Carlin is a Paris perfumer who first wanted to be a novelist. She chose perfumery at 18 after hearing a radio interview. She retrained in science and entered the ISIPCA perfumery school in Versailles in 2002. She joined Symrise as a junior perfumer in 2007 and worked under Maurice Roucel. In November 2024 IFF appointed her Senior Fine Fragrance Perfumer in Paris.
Carlin often turns places and atmospheres from books into scent, and Roucel shaped her experimental approach to materials. Her credits include Honour Woman for Amouage, Kyoto for Diptyque, Tonka Blanc for L'Artisan Parfumeur and Velvet Tonka for BDK Parfums. She also created Red Power for Ferrari and Immortelle Tribal for L'Atelier de Givenchy.
