About Carlos Viñals
Carlos Viñals is a perfumer born in Manhattan to Cuban parents and raised in Virginia. He began an apprenticeship at IFF in 1985 under Carlos Benaïm. He later worked at Givaudan, Takasago and Fragrance Resources. In 2009 he joined Symrise, where he is a VP Senior Perfumer.
Viñals aims for emotional fragrances that bring joy, working across mainstream and niche styles, including gourmand and spicy scents. He cites his Cuban heritage, motorcycles and classic rock as influences. His credits include Cotton for Marc Jacobs (2006) and Ginger Tonic for A.N Other (2017). More recent work includes Bare for Victoria's Secret (2022), and Gambit (2023) and Mentor (2024) for Mind Games.
