About Christian Carbonnel
Christian Carbonnel is a Spanish-based perfumer and a director of Carbonnel S.A., a perfumery company founded by his grandfather, Maurice Carbonnel. He is the third generation of the family in the trade. He trained with his father, who made oriental-style fragrances for Middle Eastern clients. He has since worked for niche houses including Xerjoff, Sospiro, Masque Milano, Kajal and Zoologist.
Carbonnel prefers woody, heavy and incense-rich compositions and says he dislikes excessive freshness. He often starts from a central accord and builds outward. His Erba Pura for Sospiro (2013) later joined the Xerjoff line. For Kajal he created Dahab (2015), and for Zoologist he made Camel (2017). He also composed Mandala for Masque Milano (2017) and Accento Overdose for Xerjoff (2019).
Christian Carbonnel created Erba Pura (2013), Kajal Dahab (2015), Zoologist Camel (2017), Masque Milano Mandala (2017) and Xerjoff Accento Overdose (2019). He has worked on many other niche and Middle Eastern fragrances through his family firm.
