About Edouard Fléchier
Edouard Fléchier is a French perfumer born in Grasse in 1949. He studied natural sciences before training at the Roure Bertrand Dupont perfumery school in Paris, later part of Givaudan. Roure Bertrand hired him after he graduated. By the mid-1980s he had a string of successful launches behind him.
His work ranges from bold designer scents to quiet, precise studies of single flowers. He created Gomma for Etro (1989), C'est la Vie! for Christian Lacroix (1990) and Vendetta pour Homme for Valentino (1991). Havana for Aramis followed in 1996. For Frédéric Malle he made Lys Méditerranée (2000), a salty lily, and Une Rose (2003), a deep, dark rose. Retail copy for Frédéric Malle describes Une Rose as the work that secured his legacy.
