About Gaël Montero
Gaël Montero is a French and Spanish perfumer who grew up in Madrid. He first studied cinema in France before turning to perfumery in Montpellier. He then spent two years as a trainee assistant to perfumer Jordi Fernandez in Barcelona. He later attended the Givaudan Perfumery School in Paris and now works for Givaudan from its Dubai offices.
Montero likes to modernise perfumery classics with a Middle Eastern touch. He favours a minimal approach and speaks of building a fragrance like architecture. Childhood memories, such as cistus in the Spanish countryside, often guide him. His credits include Madurai (2022) and Cappadocia (2023) for Memo Paris, and Safran Secret (2025) for Maison Crivelli. In 2025 he also created Star Oud for Montblanc and co-created Eclaire Banoffi for Lattafa.
