About Jacques Polge
Jacques Polge is a French perfumer, born in 1943 in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. He studied chemistry and began his career at Roure Bertrand Dupont in 1970. From 1978 until he retired in 2015, he was in-house perfumer at a historic Paris fashion house. His son, Olivier Polge, later succeeded him in that role. He was appointed to the Ordre national du Mérite.
His approach is described as meticulous, with layered compositions that evolve on the skin. He believed a perfume should tell a story and stir emotion. Because most of his career was spent at one house, few of his works carry other labels. Those that do include Diva (1983) and Senso (1987) for Emanuel Ungaro, and Tiffany for Men (1989).
