About Julie Massé

Julie Massé was born in Tokyo and moved to France at the age of five; her family has roots in Grasse. She studied chemistry and perfumery at ISIPCA in Versailles, mentored by Pierre Bourdon. She began at Fragrance Resources in Grasse, then joined MANE. There she worked with Christine Nagel and Cécile Matton on fragrances for Armani and Yves Saint Laurent. In 2012 she was asked to create the six launch scents of Shay & Blue London.

She builds each fragrance around the strength of its accords, often made from scratch. Art, architecture, food and the orange tree feed her ideas. She is closely linked with the Giorgio Armani Sì line, including Sì Intense (2014), Sì Passione (2017) and Sì Fiori (2019). She also created Armani Privé Thé Yulong (2020) and Shay & Blue Salt Caramel (2014).
