About Marie Salamagne

Marie Salamagne is a perfumer at dsm-firmenich who trained at ISIPCA and Charabot. She grew up in a family of doctors and had a keen sense of smell from childhood. Her clients have included Yves Saint Laurent, Guerlain and Giorgio Armani. In 2026 she received the title of Master Perfumer.

Salamagne compares fragrance to painting, with each ingredient adding its own contrast and hue. She works from notebooks and likes to experiment. She co-created Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium (2014) and Mugler Aura (2017). For Maison Margiela's Replica line she created By the Fireplace (2015), Beach Walk (2012) and Flower Market (2012). She also worked on Mugler Alien Goddess (2021) and Atelier des Ors Lune Féline (2015).
