About Pierre Montale

Pierre Montale is a French perfumer and the founder of two Paris fragrance houses, Montale and Mancera. Travels in the Arabian Peninsula introduced him to oud and other materials prized in the region. He founded Montale in Paris in 2003. In 2008 he launched Mancera, where his daughter Amélie became artistic director in 2017.

Both houses use high concentrations of materials for intense, long-lasting scents. Oud is Montale's signature ingredient, blended with a French approach to composition. Well-known Montale scents include Black Aoud (2006) and Intense Cafe (2013). Mancera's most popular include Cedrat Boise (2011), Roses Vanille (2011), Red Tobacco (2017) and Instant Crush (2019). Montale also makes gourmand scents such as Chocolate Greedy (2007).
