About Raymond Matts
Raymond Matts is a New York based fragrance developer who runs the consultancy Fragrance Design. Before that he worked with Estée Lauder, IFF and Firmenich, now part of dsm-firmenich. He also lectures on perfumery at the Pratt Institute, teaching courses on technique, advanced perfumery and fragrance creation. He launched his own Raymond Matts Collection, made with perfumer Christophe Laudamiel.
Matts builds fragrances around feelings rather than ingredient lists. His Aura de Parfum approach keeps top and heart notes bright and textured through the wear. It avoids a slide into a heavy base. His credits include Aramis Life (2003), Simply by Clinique (2004), True Star for Tommy Hilfiger (2004) and the original Brioni Eau de Toilette (2014).
Raymond Matts is credited with Brioni Eau de Toilette (2014), Simply by Clinique (2004), Tommy Hilfiger True Star (2004), Aramis Life (2003) and Tommy Bahama Set Sail South Seas (2008), plus the scents in his own Raymond Matts Collection.
