About Shinichiro Oba
Shinichiro Oba is a Japanese-born perfumer at IFF, trained in Paris and Singapore. He was mentored at IFF by Anne Flipo and Peter Coates. Before IFF he worked as an R&D chemist at Inoue Perfumery in Tokyo from 2012 to 2015. He joined IFF as an apprentice in 2019 and moved to its Dubai fine fragrance team in 2024.
His work is described as clean yet layered, often inspired by nature, memory and movement. He has worked across categories, from fine fragrance to body care. In 2025 he created Freeze and Freeze in Flames, two extraits for Riiffs. Freeze pairs spearmint, lemon and ice notes with cedar. That year he also composed Enigma of Taif for Swiss Arabian and Cocolatte Lassi for French Avenue.
Shinichiro Oba created Riiffs Freeze and Freeze in Flames (2025), Swiss Arabian Enigma of Taif (2025) and French Avenue Cocolatte Lassi (2025). Earlier credits include Zencha for Hint (2024).
