About Thierry Wasser
Thierry Wasser is a Swiss-born perfumer from Lausanne and the in-house perfumer of Guerlain since 2008. He earned a federal diploma in botany, then trained at Givaudan's perfumery school in Geneva. Givaudan promoted him to perfumer at 24. He joined Firmenich in 1993, worked in its New York office and moved to Paris in 2002. At Guerlain he became the first perfumer from outside the founding family to lead creation.
Wasser treats the Guerlinade, a base of bergamot, rose, iris, tonka and vanilla, as essential to Guerlain's style. He regularly visits raw-material growers around the world. Before Guerlain he created Lancôme Hypnôse (2005). His Guerlain work includes Guerlain Homme (2009), La Petite Robe Noire (2012) and L'Homme Idéal (2014). He also composed Mon Guerlain (2017) and oversees the house's historic classics.
