Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lynn Lopez was born in The Bronx, New York City in 1969 to Puerto Rican immigrant parents and became one of the most influential entertainment figures of the late 20th and early 21st century — simultaneously a major actress, recording artist, dancer, producer, and businesswoman. Glow by Jennifer Lopez (2002) — her debut fragrance — is credited by fragrance industry analysts as launching the celebrity fragrance era in its modern form: it was the first celebrity fragrance to gross over $100 million in its first year, inspiring the wave of celebrity launches that followed across the decade. Lopez's fragrance business has since generated over $2 billion in retail revenue across more than 20 fragrances.

Glow by Jennifer Lopez (2002) was created by Loc Dong — a perfumer who has also worked on major launches for Tom Ford and Calvin Klein — using grapefruit, rose, musks, and sandalwood to create an exceptionally clean, radiant composition that smelled genuinely like the luminous, fresh-from-the-shower glow its name promised. The composition was unusual for celebrity fragrance — genuinely clean rather than heavy or sweet — and its quality helped establish the genre's commercial credibility. Still (2003) extended the clean radiance into a warmer floral-musk direction.

Glow (2002) is Jennifer Lopez's most historically significant fragrance — the launch that effectively created the modern celebrity fragrance market. Its clean grapefruit-rose-musk composition by Loc Dong achieved something that celebrity fragrance had not previously managed: genuine critical respect alongside commercial success. Twenty years after launch, Glow's transparency remains more contemporary than many fragrances created after it. Still (2003) extends the Glow DNA into warmer musk territory. Miami Glow (2005) added aquatic freshness for a summer direction.

Jennifer Lopez occupies accessible prestige — EDPs from €30-€55 — with a historical importance in celebrity fragrance that its modest price belies.
