Goldfield & Banks was founded in Sydney, Australia in 2016 by Dimitri Weber — a Belgian-born entrepreneur who moved to Sydney and discovered that Australia's unique botanical landscape offered extraordinary fragrance raw materials unavailable to European houses. Australia's endemic flora — Tasmanian pepperberry, Pacific rock lily, white cypress, native frangipani, golden wattle — are genuinely distinctive from any other botanical fragrance ingredient in the world. Goldfield & Banks became the first significant Australian luxury fragrance house to achieve international distribution, bringing Australian botanicals to a global niche audience that had never encountered them in fine fragrance before.
Goldfield & Banks creates fragrances using Australian ingredients alongside international quality raw materials, working with perfumers including Yann Vasnier, Dominique Ropion, and Christine Nagel. Pacific Rock Moss (2017) — using vetiver, ambrette, and Pacific rock lily — is the house's most globally celebrated composition for its unusual coastal Australian botanical character. Southern Bloom (2019), using golden wattle, jasmine, and musks, provides a warm, uniquely Australian floral. Velvet Splendour (2020), with cashmere, amber, and resins, demonstrates the house's range into warmer oriental territory.
Pacific Rock Moss (2017) is Goldfield & Banks' breakthrough composition — a vetiver-Pacific rock lily-ambrette structure that creates a uniquely Australian coastal experience unlike any European or Arabian fragrance. Its botanical specificity — genuine Australian ingredients — makes it genuinely educational for fragrance enthusiasts who have never encountered these raw materials.
Goldfield & Banks occupies premium accessible niche — EDPs from €150-€200 for 100ml — with a geographic uniqueness (Australian botanicals) that no other house replicates. For fragrance enthusiasts wanting genuine novelty rather than variations on familiar European and Arabian traditions, Goldfield & Banks is the most compelling destination.

What makes Goldfield & Banks unique?
Goldfield & Banks is the only significant luxury niche house using Australian botanicals as primary fragrance ingredients. Pacific rock lily, native frangipani, Tasmanian pepperberry, and golden wattle create olfactive experiences genuinely unlike any European or Arabian fragrance tradition. For fragrance enthusiasts seeking novelty beyond familiar ingredient territories, Goldfield & Banks offers the most geographically distinctive option in accessible niche.
What is Pacific Rock Moss?
Pacific Rock Moss (2017) is the house's breakthrough composition — a vetiver, Pacific rock lily, and ambrette structure that creates a uniquely Australian coastal experience. The Pacific rock lily note is genuinely endemic to Australia; combined with vetiver's earthy-grassy character and ambrette's musk-like softness, the composition evokes Australian coastal landscapes with unusual botanical specificity.
How does Goldfield & Banks compare to Byredo and Diptyque in lifestyle niche?
All three are premium lifestyle niche houses, but from very different geographic and cultural starting points. Byredo is Scandinavian-global and fashion-forward. Diptyque is Parisian-artistic.
