Jimmy Choo Yeang Keat was born in Penang, Malaysia in 1948 into a family of cobblers — his father made shoes by hand, and Jimmy learned the craft from childhood. He moved to London to study at Cordwainers College and established his first studio in Hackney, East London in 1986, hand-crafting shoes that attracted Princess Diana as one of his earliest loyal clients. In 1996, he entered a partnership with Tamara Mellon — daughter of Vidal Sassoon's business partner — who opened the first Jimmy Choo boutique in London's Motcomb Street. The brand rapidly became the definitive symbol of celebrity luxury footwear, with every Hollywood red carpet featuring their stilettos from the late 1990s through the 2000s. Intermarché acquired the brand in 2011; Michael Kors Holdings (now Capri Holdings) bought it in 2017. Fragrances entered the portfolio in 2011 under an Interparfums licence.
Jimmy Choo fragrances are created through Interparfums' working relationships with leading perfumers. The debut Jimmy Choo EDP (2011) was created by Michel Almairac and Anne Flipo — two of the industry's most prolific talents — using pear, tiger lily, rose, orris, toffee, sandalwood, and amber to create a fruity-floral that captured the brand's glamorous, feminine identity. Fleur (2015), created by Nathalie Lorson, introduced a lighter, more romantic floral direction. Flash (2013), by Almairac, added a darker, vetiver-led interpretation. Seduction Collection (2022) by Juliette Karagueuzoglou demonstrated the house's range from champagne-fresh to rich-woody.
Jimmy Choo EDP (2011) remains the house's bestselling fragrance — a confident, warm fruity-floral in the tradition of great accessible luxury feminines. I Want Choo (2021), with cardamom, tuberose, and sandalwood, extended the range into warmer oriental territory. Fever (2023) introduced a darker gourmand direction with blackberry and musks over amber and labdanum. For men, Jimmy Choo Man (2014) and Jimmy Choo Man Blue offer clean, accessible masculines that perform well beyond their modest price point.
Jimmy Choo occupies accessible luxury — EDPs from €55-€90 — delivering genuine quality and wearability that consistently exceeds expectations at the price. The brand's shoe heritage lends their fragrances an aspirational glamour that comparable-priced competitors from less visually distinctive fashion backgrounds cannot replicate.

Jimmy Choo — Common Questions
Who is Jimmy Choo and when was the brand founded?
Jimmy Choo Yeang Keat was born in Penang, Malaysia in 1948 into a family of cobblers, learning shoemaking from childhood. He established his studio in Hackney, London in 1986 and attracted Princess Diana as one of his earliest clients. He partnered with Tamara Mellon in 1996 to open the first Jimmy Choo boutique in London's Motcomb Street. Fragrances entered the portfolio in 2011 through an Interparfums licence, now part of the Capri Holdings brand family.
What is Jimmy Choo's most famous fragrance?
Jimmy Choo EDP (2011) — the debut fragrance — remains the bestselling: a warm fruity-floral of pear, tiger lily, rose, toffee, and amber created by Michel Almairac and Anne Flipo. Its confidence and warmth immediately established the house's fragrance identity. I Want Choo (2021), a cardamom-tuberose-sandalwood composition, has become the most successful recent launch for its accessible warmth and wearability.
Who creates Jimmy Choo fragrances?
Jimmy Choo fragrances are created through Interparfums working with leading perfumers. Michel Almairac — also responsible for Gucci Guilty Intense and D&G The One for Men — created the original EDP. Anne Flipo, who co-created L'Interdit and Si, collaborated on the debut. Nathalie Lorson (Olympéa, Code Absolu) created Fleur. Juliette Karagueuzoglou created the Seduction Collection. The rotating roster reflects Interparfums' access to the industry's top tier.
How does Jimmy Choo compare to Coach and Kate Spade in the accessible luxury space?
All three are accessible American or international luxury fashion brands with fragrance programmes at similar price points, but Jimmy Choo has the strongest heritage in craftsmanship — actual hand-made shoes rather than leather goods or accessories. This gives their fragrances slightly greater aspirational glamour. Coach tends toward fresher, more American-optimistic compositions; Jimmy Choo toward warmer, more Mediterranean-inspired femininity; Kate Spade toward the playful and youthful.
Can I try Jimmy Choo fragrances as samples?
Yes — The Scent Stories® stocks authentic Jimmy Choo samples, miniatures, and tester bottles including the original EDP, I Want Choo, Fever, Jimmy Choo Man, and more. All are factory-sealed and brand-packaged, shipped worldwide. The Jimmy Choo EDP and its extensions span meaningfully different characters — from the warm fruity-floral of the original to the darker vetiver of Flash — making sampling across the collection worthwhile before choosing.
