About Nathalie Lorson
Nathalie Lorson is a French perfumer born in Grasse, where her father was a chemist at Roure. As a child she went with him to work, which sparked her interest in fragrance. She trained at the Roure Bertrand Dupont perfumery school. She joined IFF in 1987 and moved to Firmenich, now dsm-firmenich, in 2000. She holds the title of Master Perfumer, and her career spans more than three decades.
Her fragrances are described as generous and harmonious, built from smooth, round, sensual materials. She aims for simple compositions with depth, often using musks, vetiver, rose, patchouli, vanilla and pepper. Her best-known works include Lalique Encre Noire (2006) and Le Labo Poivre 23 (2008). She co-created Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium (2014) and Givenchy Gentleman (2017). She also created Jimmy Choo Man Blue (2018).
