About Jacques Cavallier Belletrud
Jacques Cavallier Belletrud is a French perfumer, born in Grasse in 1962 into a family of perfumers. His father taught him to recognise natural raw materials, and he worked in Grasse perfume factories from the age of ten. He worked at Charabot and Quest before joining Firmenich in 1990. He won the Prix François Coty in 2004. In 2012 he became the in-house master perfumer at Louis Vuitton, whose first perfume collection launched in 2016.
He helped establish the marine family through his use of Calone, a molecule with an airy, sea-breeze effect. He names rose, agarwood, jasmine and orange blossom as essential ingredients. One of his most successful works is Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey, made with Chantal Roos. He also worked on Jean Paul Gaultier's women's fragrance of 1993 and on Tom Ford Tuscan Leather. For Louis Vuitton he created a seven-scent debut collection that included Rose des Vents (2016).
