About Annick Menardo
Annick Ménardo is a French perfumer born in Cannes. She studied organic chemistry, then trained in perfumery at ISIPCA in Versailles. At Créations Aromatiques she trained under Michel Almairac, whose style shaped her early work. She has worked at Firmenich, now dsm-firmenich, since 1991. She also created the scent for Nobi Shioya's sculpture Anger, part of an olfactory art installation.
Her work is described as precise, exacting and slightly rebellious, with each note chosen to avoid clutter. She created the original Lolita Lempicka (1997) and Hugo Boss Boss Bottled (1998), a long-running bestseller. She also composed Yves Saint Laurent Body Kouros (2000). For niche houses she created Le Labo Patchouli 24 (2006) and Guerlain Bois d'Arménie (2006). Later work includes Amouage Portrayal Woman (2019).
