About Hamid Merati-Kashani
Hamid Merati-Kashani is a Principal Perfumer at dsm-firmenich. He was born in Germany to an Iranian father and a German mother, and spent his childhood in Isfahan, Iran. He describes himself as Iranian in education and German in organisation. Fragrantica lists more than 240 perfumes by him, for houses including Parfums de Marly, Kayali, Amouage and Yves Saint Laurent.
He draws on Middle Eastern ideas of luxury and works closely with clients on each brief. He is best known for his long run at Parfums de Marly. He created Pegasus (2011), Layton (2016), Percival (2018) and Althaïr (2023) for the house. He also made Goldfield & Banks Silky Woods (2021) and Kayali Oudgasm Rose Oud (2023). His other credits include the Eternal Journey trio (2023) and Mercedes-Benz Club Black Eau de Parfum (2025).
Hamid Merati-Kashani created Parfums de Marly Layton, Pegasus, Pegasus Exclusif, Percival and Althaïr. He also made Goldfield & Banks Silky Woods, Kayali Oudgasm Rose Oud, Yves Saint Laurent Exquisite Embroidery and Mercedes-Benz Club Black Eau de Parfum.
