About Gerard Anthony
Gérard Anthony is a French perfumer, born in 1944. He started at the materials house Lautier at 17, learning raw materials. He then worked for Dragoco and later Naarden, where he created Azzaro Pour Homme (1978). He spent more than 20 years at Firmenich. In 1974 he won the Young Perfumer prize of the Société Technique des Parfumeurs. He later joined the creative team at Jean Niel.
He is known for classically built masculine fragrances, especially aromatic and woody styles. Azzaro Pour Homme remains his best-known work. At Firmenich he composed Paco Rabanne XS (1993) and Balenciaga's 1990 masculine. He co-authored Guerlain Samsara (1989) with Jean-Paul Guerlain. Other credits include Lalique Nilang (1995) and Dunhill d (1996).
