About Jean-Pierre Béthouart
Jean-Pierre Béthouart is a French perfumer from Picardy who studied chemistry before turning to perfumery. He worked at Givaudan from 1981 to 1987 and then joined Firmenich. His career was most active from the late 1980s to the 2000s. He composed for designer houses including Boucheron, Caron, Versace, Burberry, Cacharel and Escada.
His style favours warm, enveloping bases with fresh fruity or spicy openings. Oriental florals and woody musks are his core families. He often uses tonka bean, sandalwood, cedar, white musk and vanilla, with jasmine, ylang-ylang and tuberose at the heart. Well-known works include Boucheron (1988, with Francis Deleamont) and Caron Parfum Sacré (1990). He also created Versace The Dreamer (1996) and Burberry Touch for Men (2000).
Jean-Pierre Béthouart created Boucheron (1988), Caron Parfum Sacré (1990), Versace Red Jeans (1994) and The Dreamer (1996), Burberry Touch for Men (2000) and Cacharel Nemo (2000), among many designer fragrances.
