About Bertrand Duchaufour
Bertrand Duchaufour is a perfumer who grew up near Nancy in eastern France. He began in 1985 as a trainee at the Lautier Florasynth group in Grasse. He later worked at Florasynth in Paris, Créations Aromatiques and Symrise. From around 2008 he was perfumer in residence at L'Artisan Parfumeur. In 2025 he launched his own brand, L'Entropiste.
Duchaufour is known for rich, layered compositions with an Eastern tone. Incense is a recurring theme, and he often uses ambrette, labdanum and castoreum. Key works include Comme des Garçons Avignon (2002) and L'Artisan Parfumeur Timbuktu (2004). He also created Fleur de Liane (2008) and MDCI Chypre Palatin (2012). Fragrantica credits him with Amouage Dia Man (2002).
