Miu Miu

Miu Miu is the younger, more playful sister label of Prada, founded by Miuccia Prada in 1993 — named after her childhood nickname. While Prada channels intellectual severity and subversive luxury, Miu Miu celebrates feminine contradiction: delicate yet bold, girlish yet knowing, nostalgic yet contemporary. The brand quickly developed its own cult following among women who found Prada too austere but wanted the same creative intelligence. Miu Miu became famous for its casts of young, unconventional models and its ability to make nostalgia for femininity feel genuinely sophisticated rather than merely retro. The fragrance programme, managed through IFF and Coty licensing, began in 2015.

Miu Miu EDP (2015) was created by Daniela Andrier — who also created Prada's Infusion d'Iris and Tiffany & Co.'s EDP — using lily of the valley, iris, and musks in a composition that perfectly translates the brand's juxtaposition of girlishness and sophistication. The hawthorn note creates an unusual green-floral freshness; the iris grounds it with adult refinement; the white musk creates skin-like intimacy. Twist (2019), also by Andrier, added peony and rose.

Miu Miu EDP (2015) is the house's defining fragrance — a lily of the valley-hawthorn-iris-musk composition that captures the brand's contradictory femininity: fresh and delicate yet surprisingly sophisticated in structure. Its character is the olfactive equivalent of a Miu Miu garment: playful in concept, precise in execution. Fleur D'Argent (2020) provides a richer, warmer white floral direction.

Miu Miu occupies accessible luxury — EDPs from €75-€110 — with Prada's intellectual DNA expressed in a more accessible, playful register. Daniela Andrier's work for Miu Miu is consistent with her Prada legacy — architecturally precise but with more lightness and femininity.
