Caron Paris

Caron was founded in Paris in 1904 by Ernest Daltroff, making it one of the oldest continuously operating French perfume houses. Daltroff was a Russian-born entrepreneur whose creative partnership with fashion designer Félicie Wanpouille produced some of the most important fragrances of the early 20th century. Pour un Homme de Caron (1934) — a lavender and vanilla composition — is considered the first modern masculine fragrance, predating the 'masculine fragrance' category by decades. Tabac Blond (1919), a leather-tobacco feminine created for women who smoked cigarettes, was a scandalous and ground-breaking composition. Caron is now owned by various private investors following its renewal in recent decades.
