Xerjoff was founded in Turin, Italy in 2003 by Sergio Momo, a designer and entrepreneur whose passion for fine materials and artisanal craftsmanship found its purest expression in fragrance. Turin — Italy's city of baroque architecture, fine chocolate, and vermouth culture — provided the aesthetic framework: rich, layered, deliberately excessive in its beauty. Momo built Xerjoff around a founding philosophy that fragrance and flacon are equal partners — each bottle is hand-crafted with crystal, porcelain, leather, and gold leaf, making Xerjoff among the most collectible objects in the world of luxury fragrance. The brand is independently owned, distributed selectively, and consistently positions itself at the absolute summit of luxury niche perfumery.

Xerjoff works with leading perfumers whose identity is rarely disclosed publicly — consistent with the house's philosophy of brand vision above individual artist promotion. Their compositions are understood to involve work from top Grasse perfumers and independent fragrance artists. Naxos (2013) — the house's most celebrated masculine — uses tobacco absolute, ylang-ylang, honey, and lavender over vanilla and musks to create an extraordinary warmth. Alexandria II (2010) uses bergamot, rose, oud, woods, and amber in a grand oriental that was among the first Western mainstream uses of genuine oud at designer scale. Casamorati (1888), their historical Italian fragrance sub-brand, recovers 19th century Modenese fragrance formulas.

Naxos (2013) is Xerjoff's most globally beloved masculine — a warm, complex composition of tobacco absolute, ylang-ylang, honey, lavender, coumarin, vanilla, and amber that creates an intimacy and depth entirely unlike other masculines at any price. The fragrance community's devotion to Naxos is exceptional: it regularly leads 'best masculine I have ever smelled' discussions and has introduced thousands of fragrance enthusiasts to the ultra-luxury niche tier. Alexandria II (2010) — a citrus-rose-oud-woods-amber composition — is the house's most quintessentially oriental masculine and demonstrates their expertise in using genuine Arabic raw materials within a Western fine fragrance structure. Casamorati Fiero (bergamot, cardamom, rose, sandalwood) is beloved for its Italian elegance.

Xerjoff sits at ultra-luxury — EDPs from €200-€600 for 50ml — positioning it alongside Amouage and By Kilian at the absolute summit of luxury niche perfumery. The hand-crafted flacons alone justify consideration as collectibles beyond the fragrance itself.

Every Xerjoff fragrance at The Scent Stories® is 100% authentic, factory-sealed and brand-packaged — sourced from authorised channels and shipped worldwide.

Xerjoff — Common Questions

When was Xerjoff founded?

Xerjoff was founded in Turin, Italy in 2003 by Sergio Momo, a designer and entrepreneur who built the brand around two equal principles: exceptional fragrance composition and hand-crafted flacons of extraordinary beauty. Turin's baroque aesthetic — rich, layered, deliberately excessive — informed the brand's philosophy. Xerjoff is independently owned and distributed selectively worldwide, consistently positioning itself at the absolute summit of ultra-luxury niche perfumery alongside Amouage and By Kilian.

What is Naxos by Xerjoff?

Naxos (2013) is Xerjoff's most celebrated masculine and one of the most beloved fragrances in contemporary niche perfumery — a warm, complex composition of tobacco absolute, ylang-ylang, honey, lavender, coumarin, and vanilla that creates an extraordinary intimacy. The fragrance community's devotion is exceptional: Naxos regularly leads 'best masculine I've ever smelled' discussions globally. Its warmth and depth are genuinely unlike other masculines at any price point, and it has introduced thousands to the ultra-luxury niche category.

Are Xerjoff bottles as special as the fragrances inside them?

Yes — Xerjoff flacons are hand-crafted works of art using crystal, porcelain, gold leaf, and leather. Each bottle is as much a collectible object as a fragrance vessel, with some limited editions genuinely acquired as display pieces rather than worn fragrances. This dual value — exceptional fragrance in a hand-crafted flacon — is unique in luxury perfumery. Even their standard collection bottles, while less extravagant, are beautifully conceived and finished to standards that no designer house approaches.

How does Xerjoff compare to Amouage and By Kilian in ultra-luxury niche?

All three sit at the summit of luxury niche perfumery with comparable price points (€200-€600). Xerjoff has the most Italian aesthetic — warm, baroque, Turinese in its layered richness. Amouage is the most Arabian — frankincense-heavy, operatically opulent, informed by Omani heritage. By Kilian is the most Parisian — refined, seductive, intellectually driven by Kilian Hennessy's cognac dynasty background. Xerjoff's Naxos is generally cited as the most accessible entry point; Amouage's Interlude the most demanding; By Kilian's Love Don't Be Shy the most versatile.

Can I try Xerjoff fragrances before committing to a full bottle?

Yes — The Scent Stories® stocks authentic Xerjoff samples and miniatures including Naxos, Alexandria II, Casamorati Fiero, and more. All are factory-sealed and brand-packaged, shipped worldwide. At Xerjoff's price point (€200-€600 for full bottles), sampling is absolutely essential before purchase — not because the quality is in question, but because these fragrances are deliberately unusual and the investment merits certainty. Naxos in particular benefits enormously from in-skin testing, where its tobacco-honey warmth evolves beautifully over 6-8 hours.
