Mancera

Mancera was founded in Paris in 2011 by Pierre Montale — the same perfumer who established the niche house Montale Paris in 2003 — as a creative expansion of his Arabic-influenced, bold-oriental approach into new fragrance territories. The name Mancera draws from the Arabic concept of pure craftsmanship, reflecting Montale's obsession with quality raw materials and his years of experience working directly with oud distillers and rose growers in Saudi Arabia, India, and Bulgaria. Mancera operates as an independent niche house, maintaining its own boutiques and selective distribution — a deliberate choice that protects the integrity and exclusivity of each composition.

Pierre Montale serves as the creative director and primary perfumer of Mancera, with a philosophy rooted in maximalism and ingredient generosity — he is known for using raw materials at concentrations that most commercial perfumers consider excessive. His Arabic perfumery background means he approaches oud, rose, amber, and musk not as accents but as structural pillars. This approach produces fragrances of exceptional projection and longevity — Mancera's EDPs routinely perform for 12-18 hours on skin and fabric. The house also collaborates with other perfumers including Christophe Raynaud for specific compositions in their extensive catalogue of over 60 fragrances.

Cedrat Boise is Mancera's most iconic and globally celebrated fragrance — a citrus-woods-musk composition of bergamot, lemon, Sicilian cedrat, cedar, vetiver, blackcurrant, musk, and patchouli that achieves the almost impossible: Mediterranean freshness with oriental depth and 12+ hours of projection. Its commercial reach has made it the most-recognised Mancera fragrance worldwide and introduced thousands of fragrance enthusiasts to niche perfumery. Black Line — a dark oud, rose, and leather composition — represents the house at its most uncompromisingly orientale. Aoud Lemon Mint — bergamot, lemon, mint, and Indian oud — demonstrates Montale's expertise in Arabic raw materials. Roses Vanille — rose absolute, jasmine, and vanilla — is the house's most feminine and romantic composition, beloved for its warmth and accessibility.

Mancera sits at the intersection of accessible niche and quality oriental — EDPs from €120-€180 — offering ingredient quality and projection that significantly exceeds European niche houses at comparable prices. Their strength is uncompromising generosity: no Mancera fragrance feels half-hearted.
