Molton Brown was founded in London's Mayfair in 1971 by hairdressers Caroline Burstein and Michael Collis, who created a hair care range using natural ingredients and essential oils at a time when mass-market synthetic products dominated. The brand expanded from hair care into body care and fragrance, maintaining their commitment to premium British ingredients and craft. Molton Brown is now owned by Kao Corporation of Japan and maintains their heritage flagship on Carlos Place in Mayfair. Their fragrance programme produces sophisticated, British luxury-adjacent compositions using exotic botanical ingredients.
